Where's Your Tiffany's?

"You know those days when you've got the mean reds.... the blues are because you're getting fat or maybe it's been raining too long. You're sad, that's all. But the mean reds are horrible. You're afraid and you sweat like hell, but you don't know what you're afraid of. Except something bad is going to happen, only you don't know what it is.What I found does the most good is just to get into a taxi and go to Tiffany's. It calms me down right away, the quietness and the proud look of it; nothing very bad could happen to you there, not with those kind men in their nice suits, and that lovely smell of silver and alligator wallets. If I could find a real-life place that made me feel like Tiffany's, then I'd buy some furniture and give the cat a name." Holly from Breakfast at Tiffany's by Truman Capote ( I like this quote from the book better than the one from the movie although it's very similar)

My friend Jennifer gave me this wonderful idea!!

Where do you go when the 'mean reds' attack?? What place calms you down when things are going all wrong? I came up with a list of places that could be potential 'Tiffany's' (although many of the people who I polled had no idea what Breakfast at Tiffany's was! Shame shame!!)

Where's Your Tiffany's?

Starbucks! Jennifer originally tweeted that Audrey Hepburn was to Tiffany's as she was to Starbucks! So cute!!

Your local park! I used to live across the street from the Audubon Park in New Orleans! It was my favorite place in the entire world!

The purse section of any department store! Most people said the accessories section, but it's exclusively the purse department for me!

The pet store or pet shelter! How can you look at those cute little faces and not melt?!

The zoo!!! Pandas, Zebras, Hippos, and Giraffes! Such loveliness!

The ice cream shop! This is probably my sister's Tiffany's because we often have to stop for ice cream when she is having a bad day.

An antique store! Some people love to look at all the trinkets and knick knacks!

The movie theatre! The cinema is definitely one of mine! I go to the movies a lot more than a normal person should.

A bakery! I really wish we had a cozy bakery in our town. I would love to go there with a good book and curl up in the corner of the room.

A playground!! My best friend and I used to go to our local playground at least once a week when we were in college together! It was such wonderful stress relief to swing on the swings and run around like a little kid!

A nail salon! I love getting manis & pedis, especially when I've had a crappy week. It's so girly, but oh so lovely!

A Candy Store! This one makes me think of the old candy parlors like in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Remember that movie?

A book shop! Or a library! I can spend hours looking around a good book store. I just love books!

A pizza parlor! When we lived in the UK last summer, my sister and I ate at Pizza Express a million times. It became our sanctuary and our UK Tiffany's.

Lovelies, Where is YOUR Tiffany's?

among a few other places, the main place is Inspiral Lounge in Camden Town, London:

They have amazing vegan cake, drinks and you can go there on your own for tea, or with a group of friends for some booze, or sit by the canal with a good friend. it's also where my flatmate and I decided on our current flat, which is in fact in walking distance from the lounge :)

This is such a great post! I don't know what my "Tiffany's" is. Maybe the movie theatre with Biscuit. Or the Mudhouse. Even Starbucks. :) I don't know. Anywhere that I can go to either vent or escape.

I love this! When I was in New York me and my friends went in Tiffany's 5th Avenue - it was lovely, but we walked straight out again as we couldn't afford anything!

My Tiffany's - um well I haven't been driving long so before then I wasn't very mobile! Um..
- my bed.
- a theatre.. although I wouldn't be able to have too many bad days as that's an expensive habit!
- my local park is on a hill so if you sit on the field you get a gorgeous view, and I've been up there to think before.
- school. I left a couple of weeks ago, and it feels like my safety net has gone, as if I was ever upset there, my friends and teachers were there to support me.

WOW long comment!

Jacque! It's Fallon :) I had read this when you first posted it and couldn't think of what my Tiffany's was, and then it hit me yesterday. Hobby Lobby! Just stepping inside of that lovely store, the wonderful smells inundate my senses, and I immediately feel calm. Walking around looking at all the awesome decorations, crafts, art supplies... I could spend all day in there I swear!!

Breakfast at Tiffany's is one of my faves :D
